Help

Please see below a list of our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). If your question is not answered here, email us at  alumni@soas.ac.uk and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Library Membership

The SOAS Alumni Library Membership card entitles our alumni to discounted access to the Library, as well as entry to the SOAS buildings and bar. Annual membership rates are: reference only (£10) or borrowing rights (£60). To get a card, you will need to visit the Alumni Office in room G1 in the main College building, and bring with you some government-issued photographic proof of ID (e.g. passport, drivers licence, national identity card) and proof of your address (e.g. utility bill), so that we can verify your alumnus status before you go to the Library, where your card will be issued. The Alumni Office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Click here for more information. For any other questions, please contact us.

Can I get access to the electronic resources in the Library?

Alumni with a library card can use the electronic journals on the computers inside the Library. Unfortunately, because of licensing issues, we are currently unable to provide alumni with individual usernames for our electronic resources and they are not available for use remotely.

Finding fellow alumni

If you have lost touch with a former colleague or friend, why not try looking them up on the alumni directory?. Please note that you will need to be registered with the Online Community to access the directory.

Still can't find your colleague or friend? We can try to contact them on your behalf by email or letter. Contact us with your friend's name, year of graduation and subject studied, and if we have their current address we will write asking them to get in touch with you directly.

Careers

If you graduated in the last couple of years, you can extend your access to the SOAS Careers Service at low cost by joining GradClub London. Join before you leave (before 31 July for undergraduates or 30 Sept for postgraduates) and membership is at a discounted rate (approx £25 for two years access). If you completed your studies longer ago, the SOAS Careers Service parent body, The Careers Group, University of London (also based at Russell Square) offers one-to-one and group careers guidance and a well stocked careers library at a discounted rate to SOAS alumni. More details here.
